The Benefits to the Community of this channel would be first and foremost to create a greater awareness of cultural diversity. It serves as a wonderful venue for the development and exposure of the arts in Albuquerque and from around the state. Art education programs would find a home and means of promotion through such a channel. The channel generates opportunities for students to gain internships or employment through their participation, given the exposure they could receive. The promotion of the tremendous cultural diversity that is represented in Albuquerque is also a means of promoting its economic development. The tourism industry in New Mexico relies heavily on this very characteristic of our local society.
Showcasing Local Filmmakers & Films: This channel also fits in perfectly with the plan of the State Film Office and the Governor to promote the film industry in the state. A central concept of the state’s plan is to emphasize the cultural distinctness of New Mexico as the niche that the state can gain in the film industry. This channel features the work of New Mexico filmmakers and films produced here.
